Call to Action: Contact Patrick Brown

Providers it’s obvious by this latest round of child care announcements that the Liberals are still not listening. The funding they have announced looks rosy but it’s unsustainable, we’ll be right back here when the money runs out. The Liberals are trying desperately to win votes by spreading around money that Ontario doesn’t have. It’s time for us to take matters into our own hands again. This is a call to action. We’ve all heard the old adage “the enemy…

Why choose independent home child care? Because it’s the closest you can get to family!

Independent home childcare continues to remain the #1 choice in Ontario! Independent childcare providers (ICPs) legally operate within the confines of the Childcare and Early Years Act (CCEYA). It is approximated that only 22.5% of families choose a licensed daycare setting. There are a multitude of reasons to choose independent childcare:

Loving and nurturing environment
Home setting
Long term friendships
Affordability
Flexibility of schedules
Safe environment
Knowledgable providers
Close to home
Continuity of one provider
Nutritious home cooked meals
Small group size
Multi aged groups
Educational activities may include:
Arts and Crafts
Science experiments
Music
Outdoor play
Literacy
Special outings

It is important to note that no home daycare in Ontario is licensed but can be perceived as being licensed if they become affiliated with an agency. This comes at a substantial cost to the provider, up to 30% of their income. ICPs instead choose to remain independent and invest back into their program. The Coalition of Independent Childcare Providers of Ontario (CICPO) advocated for individual licensing at a reasonable fee or at minimum a registry but were denied by the current Ontario government.

Come and explore all that independent childcare may have to offer you and your family!
